I, Kuldip Singh Uppal, came to Hong Kong from India over three decades ago. My father, Tarsem Singh Uppal, once served in the former British colony’s police force. In 1985, life took a new turn when he opened Jojo Mess, a venture that soon proved to be a great success.
Inspired by my father’s vision, I joined the business early on, gaining hands-on experience in management and exploring my potential. The success of Jojo Mess laid the foundation for several more ventures in the years to follow.
In 1996, JoJo opened in Central, followed by Jashan in 2003 – a celebration of Indian cuisine in a prime location. Jashan’s popularity earned it the title of “Best Indian Restaurant in Hong Kong” and led to a major facelift in 2011 with a refreshed menu and dynamic team.
Between 2006 and the present, we launched over a dozen new ventures, including Bacco in Sai Kung, and multiple Subway outlets in Soho, Star Ferry, and Central. In 2013, we introduced Fresco – Deliciously Fresh, serving sandwiches, salads, pizza, and coffee in the Bank of America building.
Today, Uppal Hospitality Group stands as one of the most prosperous in Hong Kong. We proudly share this success with our loyal patrons and value our partnership with Cathay Pacific Airways, providing five-star catering to its passengers.
